Admission Notice

General Rules

Strict adherence to the following rules is required:

  • Pupils are expected to attend school on a daily and timely basis. Late-comers are usually sent home.
  • You have to wear a clean and neat uniform at all times. Pupils may not be allowed to attend the classes in dirty or untidy uniforms.
  • School attendance for pupils when sick and/or suffering from an infectious disease is not required. Any pupil found appearing with the infectious disease for a classwork/test will have his / her classwork/test canceled.
  • Pupils regularly have to complete their homework.
  • Pupils are expected to treat with due regard and politeness their teachers and all other representatives of the teaching and non-teaching staff. They are supposed to always behave in a respectful manner, acceptable to the School’s integrity.
  • Each pupil is allowed to leave school premises earlier than the scheduled departure times.
  • Pupils who do not use the School bus will be allowed to leave for the production of their identity cards only with their guardians or escorts. No pupil is permitted to go alone.
  • No book, newspaper, or periodicals of any objectionable nature shall be brought to School.
  • Pupils are not allowed to wear watches or gold jewellery and carry any expensive items to school with them.
  • Any change in the pupil’s profile, including change of address, telephone number, etc. should be notified in writing immediately. To change the address, both parents/guardians must sign the form.
  • Inappropriate situations, pupils are expected to carry their own tiffin or get it from the Canteen.
  • No program or group shall be held in the school without prior authorization from the authorities.
  • School staff can not send individual things (water bottle, tiffin box, scarf, etc.) to the pupil’s classroom if he/she has forgotten to carry it for some reason. Please ensure the pupil carries the items required.
  • Girls only have to wear BLACK rubber bands or hair strips. It will not be permitted to use any other color.
  • Plastic water bottles without straps and water bottles made from metal (now available on the market) are not permitted.

Discipline

Students belonging to the younger age groups need great caution and flexibility in their handling. In South Point, we believe in firm but empathetic handling to instill discipline instead of corporal punishment.

Guardians are to note that:

  • Particular emphasis is given to inculcating a high level of discipline among the pupils. Any kind of disobedience or inappropriate conduct will lead to the school withdrawing a pupil.
  • Strict action may be taken if the property in the school, including library books, is intentionally damaged or destroyed. A heavy fine may also be imposed in such cases.
  • The use of unfair means can result in the cancelation of one’s entire term result in every examination/exam. Equally liable for punishment will be a pupil who rendered unfair assistance to another.
  • Keeping a friendly attitude with classmates. Strict disciplinary action, such as expulsion, can be taken against any student who clashes with and injures others. Pupils that are injurious to the school’s moral tone can need to be removed.
  • Guardians are asked not to allow their wards to be absent from the school except for illness or other reasons equally valid.

Absence

  • Pupils that are away from school must send a letter and an entry by their parents in their School Diary’s Regularity Record detailing the reason of the absence.
  • For sickness, it is appropriate to have a formal note, followed by a medical certificate, for more than three days. If there is a doctor’s appointment, that day the pupil shall not be sent to the school.
  • Pupils recovering from or exposed to infectious diseases must complete the 15-day QUARANTINE PERIOD before returning to school. At the time of rejoining the school, a medical fitness certificate from the attending physician has to be handed over to the class instructor.
  • All leave applications addressed to the Principal should be deposited at the Reception Desk, clearly showing the name of the student, college, section, and session.
  • The attendance can be sporadic and inadequate to prevent promotion. Minimum attendance will have to be 80 percent of the school days.
  • Willful absenteeism before any test/review without a permit is strictly discouraged as the absentees miss important revision lessons and constructive advice, entirely to their disadvantage. Thus these pupils can be prevented from taking the respective test.
  • In the event of ailment during block exams, guardians will see the Principal (only during visiting hours) with the applications for leave and required medical certificates, etc.

Notice to Guardians Regarding Private Tuitions

Private tuitions don’t always help the child grow into a better student as these cause a sense of lethargy in the study habits of the pupil. In particular, we discourage the practice of private tuitions imparted to our pupils by our school teachers, as this can sometimes create an unhealthy atmosphere. The Code of Conduct applicable to affiliated school teachers issued by the State Government, forbids any kind of private tuition.

The school discourages our students from practicing private tuitions given by South Point School or South Point High School teachers. At the beginning of each session, all guardians are to send an annual declaration to the school.

Special Classes

We understand that it may take special personalized guidance from several pupils. For these situations, guardians should also take advantage of the current School Special Classes that are explicitly tailored for these pupils. Both the South Point School and South Point High School take care of pupils’ extra coaching needs in some schools. Special classes for those pupils who require additional help in English and Arithmetic are held at Junior School in the evenings. The Office of Schools contains comprehensive details. Special classes and remedial classes are also held in High School.

Those classes take place at South Point School only on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. They are mostly held in High School on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
